How to keep spare parts
A proximity sensor fails on a machining centre. It costs thirty-five euros, but there's none on the shelf, so the line waits a day for the courier. MainteMakkal tells you what needs ordering before you run out.
Steps
Spare parts shows each site's stores: where every part is kept, how many there are, and the fewest to keep.
- Add a part
Say where it's kept, how many there are now, the fewest you want on the shelf, and what one costs.
- See what needs ordering
There's one, and you want at least two. So it shows in red, and Needs ordering lists it. That's your shopping list.
- Book in what arrived
When the order arrives, press Received, and type how many came in. The stock goes up.
- Use parts on a job
On a job, whoever does the work adds the parts they used, and the job shows what they cost.
Back in the stores, they're already taken off. Nothing to update by hand.
Good to know: Spare parts
- Needs ordering lists the parts with fewer in stock than their minimum; the number beside it counts them. A minimum of 0 never asks for ordering.
- Received adds what came in. Count sets the stock to what is on the shelf, after a stock-take.
- On a work order, Parts used → Add part: search the stores of the job’s site, give how many, Use. Put back returns them to stock. Parts can be written down until a job is cancelled, also after Finish.
- Stock can fall below 0 when parts were used before they were counted: count them to put it right.
- The unit cost is kept with each use, so a later price doesn’t change old jobs; the job shows its parts cost. Costs are in the organization’s currency, which an Owner or Admin chooses in Settings.
- Planners add parts and change stock; whoever does the work writes down parts used. Each site has its own stores.
