How to record a meter reading
At the Galway plant, the air compressor ran long past its service. The hours were on a clipboard, and nobody added them up, until it overheated. In MainteMakkal, every reading you type moves the next service on its own.
Steps
Meters lists every machine's counters: running hours, strokes, kilometres. Each with its last reading.
- Find the machine
Here, a compressor.
- Type today's reading
Type today's reading, and press Enter. It's saved straight away, with no form to fill in.
- See the next service
The service plan on this meter shows the reading it's due at, and the day the meter should get there. When it's reached, MainteMakkal makes the work order by itself.
Good to know: Meters
- Type the reading and press Enter or Save. It is dated today; for another day, use Add reading on the machine’s page.
- A meter only goes up: a reading below the last one is refused.
- Last reading shows its date and the pace, the average a week over the last 90 days of readings.
- Next due by it is the plan due soonest by this meter: the reading at which it is due and the day the meter should get there at its pace. Reached means the job is due now; the plan makes its work order by itself.
- Anyone in MainteMakkal writes down readings, operators too. Planners add meters on a machine’s page, or by putting machines on a plan due by a meter.
