How to take a breakdown from raised to finished
Every repair written down as it happens: what was wrong, what fixed it, how long it stood still.
Steps
- Raise the job
At the Galway plant, Niamh Kelly raises an urgent repair for Robot cell R1. She types the title, “Robot stopped with error E-405”.
- Start the work
When she begins work, Niamh chooses Start. MainteMakkal puts her name on the work order.
- Wait for parts
A sensor is on order. Niamh chooses Waiting and adds, “Sensor ordered.” The reason appears at the top of the job.
- Carry on
When the sensor arrives, Niamh chooses Carry on and continues work on the same job.
- Finish the repair
At Finish, Niamh records what she did, what was wrong, what put it right, three quarters of an hour of work, and fifty minutes stopped. The job is Done, and nothing on it can change.
Good to know: A work order
- Start it when you begin; mark it Waiting when it stops for parts or a supplier, and Carry on when they come.
- Finish asks everything at once: what was done, the hours, how long the machine was stopped, and for a repair the cause and remedy.
- Something else needs doing? Tick “raise a follow-up job” when finishing: the new job is linked to this one.
- A finished or cancelled job never changes. Only Planners cancel, with a reason that stays on the job.
- A request waits for a Planner: Approve… makes it a job (who, how urgent, when); Decline… says why, or which job it is the same as.
- A job made by a preventive plan shows the plan, its due date and the checklist it was made with.
- Checklist: tick each check and write down the values measured, then Save checklist; you can save as often as you like while the job is open. A value outside its limits shows red as Out of limits, and Finish then offers a follow-up job, already ticked and filled in.
- A job from a plan due by a meter asks for the reading when finishing; the plan counts its next job from it.
- Hours expected says how long the job should take, for the planner. Planners set it when raising the job or with Plan…; a plan’s job takes the plan’s hours.
